It's Fairly Likely We're All Just AI

But one of his ideas is that it's almost certain we'll eventually develop technology to run AI. That civilization could easily run simulations about its ancestors, and likely would. That means we could be those ancestor sims instead of the actual ancestors. Here's a good NYTimes article about it.
