This is the description of math from Castle Hill Forest Baptist School in San Antonio. This seems legit, as far as I can tell. [Legit as in this school exists. Not legit as in I will ever send my child there, ever.]
Emphasis is mine - my favorite parts of the crazy. There are also a few bonus samplings from other course descriptions. I deleted like half of the description of geometry, because it goes on for ever and ever - but don't worry, I kept all the God stuff in.
GEOMETRYStudents will examine the nature of God as they progress in their understanding of mathematics. Students will understand the absolute consistency of mathematical principles and know that God was the inventor of that consistency. They will see God's nature revealed in the order and precision they review foundational concepts while being able to demonstrate geometric thinking and spatial reasoning. The study of the basics of geometry through making and testing conjectures regarding mathematical and real-world patterns will allow the students to understand the absolute consistency of God as seen in the geometric principles he created.
ALGEBRA IIStudents will examine the nature of God as they progress in their understanding of mathematics. Students will understand the absolute consistency of mathematical principles and know that God was the inventor of that consistency. Mathematical study will result in a greater appreciation of God and His works in creation. Students will extend their mathematical knowledge beyond Algebra 1 by continuing to develop an understanding and usage of advanced algebraic concepts including functions, polynomials, rational expressions, complex numbers, systems of equations and inequalities, and matrices. Students will develop calculator skills.
PRE-CALCULUSStudents will examine the nature of God as they progress in their understanding of mathematics. Students will understand the absolute consistency of mathematical principles and know that God was the inventor of that consistency. Mathematical study will result in a greater appreciation of God and His works in creation. Students who have successfully completed Geometry and Algebra 2 will develop skills in advanced algebra, analytic geometry, and trigonometry. The students will focus on the mathematics concepts that connect the thoughts of the mind with the realities of the universe, experiencing the creative power and order of God.
CALCULUSStudents will examine the nature of God as they progress in their understanding of mathematics. Students will understand the absolute consistency of mathematical principles and know that God was the inventor of that consistency. Mathematical study will result in a greater appreciation of God and His works in creation. The students will understand the basic ideas of both differential and integral calculus and its importance and historical applications. The students will recognize that God created our minds to be able to see that the universe can be calculated by mental methods.
Enough math.
HISTORY (this scares me)
History is simply HIS STORY-God's unfolding plan of the ages. As we investigate various periods of history in Intermediate School it is viewed from the perspective of … "How was God working in a particular time and place to bring about His plan for the ages?" In turn, students are challenged to discover how God is working in their own generation and specifically their own lives.
PHOTOGRAPHY: Through photography the students will understand that God is interested in beauty, that He is pleased with art. They will also understand that God wants us to recognize His nature through art. Students will recognize that God gives a variety of artistic abilities and will use them as we submit to Him.
THEATER ARTS: They will gain growth in their abilities as a thespian through an encouraging environment that is based on sound biblical principles. They will learn to express themselves in ways that glorify the Lord.
TECHNOLOGY They will acknowledge that God is concerned about the details of our life and wants us to give attention to details as well. They will use technology wisely, recognizing that true wisdom comes from a right relationship with God. Students will be able to demonstrate effective use of hardware, software, computer applications, and programming.
